Certified General Appraiser Course (Schedule)
Certified General Appraiser.
Appraisers must satisfactorily complete at least 300 classroom hours of appraisal qualifying education to meet the requirement for certified general appraiser. The applicant must satisfy the 200-hour education requirement for certified residential appraiser plus an additional 100 hours of appraisal qualifying education. The following courses satisfy the additional 100-hour requirement for certified general appraiser.
- QE 301 - General Appraiser Market Analysis and Highest and Best Use (15 hours)
- QE 302 - General Appraiser Site Valuation and Cost Approach (15 hours)
- QE 303 - General Appraiser Sales Comparison Approach (15 hours)
- QE 304 - General Appraiser Income Approach (45 hours)
- QE 305 - General Appraiser Report Writing and Case Studies (10 hours)
NOTE: These courses should be available in the Fall 2008.
Summary of Requirements (Certified General Appraiser)
- Appraisal education - successfully complete a total of 300 hours of appraisal qualifying education
- College education - have a "bachelors" degree or higher OR successfully complete at least 30 semester credit hours in specific subject matter areas
- Appraisal experience - 3,000 hours during no fewer than 30 months AND have a minimum of 23 narrative, non-residential appraisal reports on the experience log (or other combinations of appraisals as defined by rule)
- State examination - successfully complete the national exam AND the Florida supplemental examination
- NOTE: While the above can not be completed in less than 2 1/2 years, there is NO maximum amount of time (you may take as much time as your need to accomplish these requirements)
NOTE 2: An appraiser may go directly from registered trainee to certified general appraiser by meeting the above requirements (you do NOT have to be a certified residential appraiser before becoming a certified general appraiser)
